ABOUT MY PAINTING
Although I enjoy experimenting with different materials and technologies, my main painting technique is oil paints. I also find watercolor fascinating with its ability to capture the essence of creativity. Finding the right color, brightness, and saturation is essential to my work, which draws inspiration from nature, people, and abstraction. My serious pursuit of painting began at age 17 when I attended preparatory courses at the Latvian Academy of Arts, learning from renowned Latvian artists such as Helena Henrihsone, Ivars Henrihsons, Irena Lūse, Valdis Villerušs, and Ira Rozentāle. My education continued through private practice with Korkunov's Guild, Baiba Ozola, and Silvija Mežkone, whose influence is evident in my work. My style features a composition of colors that come to life based on the surrounding colors, similar to the French painter Dufy's approach to Fauvism. As my studies progressed under Indulis Zariņš and Gļebs Panteļejevs, my work became more realistic, focusing on the human body, inspired by French humanists. I enjoy painting people and landscapes, with water being a subject close to my heart due to its ever-changing nature and play of light and color. I has studied under several Latvian art experts, including Helena Henrihsone, Ivars Henrihsons, Irena Lūse, Valdis Villerušs, Ira Rozentāle, and Silvija Mežkone. The artist credits these mentors for providing a solid foundation and cites Silvija Mežkone as being particularly influential, stating that her approach to painting has been similar to the artist's own. The artist also mentions being drawn to the principles of Fauvism, a style characterized by bold colors and loose brushwork, which is reflected in the artist's own work. Impressionism, which emphasizes the use of light and color to capture the feeling or impression of a moment, is another influence on the artist's painting style. Overall, the artist's experimental approach to painting and interest in various techniques and styles is likely influenced by their diverse training and exposure to different art experts and movements, including Silvija Mežkone, Helena Henrihsone, Fauvism, and Impressionism.
