MY PUPPETS AND MARIONETTES
From childhood, I have been fascinated by puppets. Inspired by Sergei Obraztsov, I created my own puppet with a moving mouth and eyes. UCONN encouraged me. The first puppet I made was the Wonderful Djinn, and as the performance was well received, I founded the Marionette Theater "Spole" upon returning to Latvia. We have performed in Latvia, in Piļļi, Bauska, Rundāle, Riga, and Berlin. I have had two solo exhibitions featuring my puppets and masks: "Masks and Marionettes" at the Mencendorf House in spring 2005, and "A Walk in Masks" in 2012/2013 at the tea room "MATERIA."
